THE STORY OF SLYRS
Once upon a time there was a local upper bavarian distiller named Florian Stetter who had an idea, he had a dream that he would be able to create a true Bavarian malt whisky. As a skilled beer brewer he knew about the relation between hop mash and malt mash, which is needed to produce whisky. Here in these unique mountains surrounded by great lakes and fresh air, could be the ideal place for creating the first Bavarian malt whisky.

But it wasn‘t as easy as Florian Stetter first thought ten years ago. „In 1999 and after a few unsuccessful attempts we managed to create an outstanding whisky.“, the pioneer says. Only barley malt und the clear spring water of our mountains harmonise so exceptionally well that one could say, we truely created the first upper bavarian malt whisky.

 

According to law whisky has to be stored for at least three years. This year a controlled quantity will be released into the market. Therefore the vintages are strictly limited. The whisky gets its colour from the wooden barrels in which it is stored. Florian Stetter reveals that only new barrels made of American white oak are used in production and that each one contains about 225 l.


He doesn‘t like to describe the smell and taste or compare it. He says: „You have to really try it“. We don‘t want to copy the scottish Malt or Bourbon. We want to be special, we want to be Bavarian. And you can taste that with SLYRS - that‘s the name of the product.

The connoisseur will recognise the true qualities of this whisky Lots of work, time, knowledge and failiure too, has contributed to mastering the art of distilling SLYRS. Florian Stetter points out that Whisky is a generation issue ! Decades will pass in order to build up the right vintage stock.

And they will live happily ever after to write history in the years to come !
